Now, this doesn't stop Berseria for being my favorite, but I really really love the story and characters, and it's only by spending so much time playing it that the combat finally clicked. Unlike the combat, even if you went to great lengths to make the most of it, it'd still be an inconvenience. So, in Berseria, they removed all terrain to ensure the camera wouldn't screw up, so the already linear game is filled with empty wastelands.Īnd on top of that the RPG system, mostly gear system, is plain bad. Problem is that Tales of combat is hectic and makes the camera go insane when there's terrain to account for. With Zestiria, the devs figured they could make the combat occur on the exploration map. The level design is basically collateral damage of combat experimentation. It'd be easier if you had played something like Graces before, because it really takes active effort and knowledge not to devolve to random Velvet button mash. It can be enjoyable, but you have to go to great lengths for it, which I would argue would involve not using Velvet and relearning the game entirely to properly make use of the other characters, and it's certainly not worth it for a newcomer. Your complaints are perfectly understandable, and fairly common.īerseria's combat system is. But again I'm not throwing hate I hope this doesn't make you hate me or something anyways I hope you have a nice day! In the mean time I'm gonna start Tales of Arise and yes Berseria did got me into the Tales series! Looking forward to playing all of them! Thanks for reading bye! I'm not throwing hate, this is simply my opinion and I haven't finished the game because those issues are kinda ruining the experience. I really loved the story, the bit of story I experienced and I'm gonna watch a full movie! The issues I have with this game revolve around exploration, art design( I don't mean all of it, the characters look amazing!), the combat system, the RPG system and gameplay loop. I'd say I'd play this game more if it were a visual novel like AI or something. The music is wonderful, every one of them, at least that I heard, were fantastic I really liked the music. The gameplay loop is really off putting for me, also this game's graphics, I know it came out in 2015 if I'm correct but really why does it look so shallow, there's really not much art design here and that's really important in a video game for me. My other and most glaring issue with this game is the exploration. ![]() You can play the other characters but it's really that Velvet is just so good that it felt like I was at a disadvantage when I didn't played her. The characters are so nice! The combat, I don't really know how to feel about it, it was fun for the most part but it started to feel like button smashing really quickly. ![]() It was trully the only thing that was keeping me playing. To begin, the amount of story I played(about 25 hours) was amazing and I'm not done with that, I found it so fantastically well done that I'm gonna watch a full movie video of this game. Hey! I'm new to this sub like I said in my previous post, I also said that I was really enjoying Tales of Berseria but the more I play it the more I become aware of its issues and yes I don't think the story is gonna carry the game for me.
