Last third of the scent evolution is somewhat similar to RG, but not nearly as sweet. It's flat smelling for the first 2/3, maybe even "cheap" smellig.but I really like the smell. I actually prefer this to RG, even if it's not really that close of a clone. It may be crude or cheap smelling, but it smells pretty unique to my nose, so I think for the 2 hours it lasts, it'll work. It's a pleasant little scent, that's not nearly as nuclear as the real thing. When it was discontinued, I figured, why not get the Belcam knock-off just for fun. The real thing was too strong for me, despite the exceptional quality and uniqueness of the scent. But the ethics are sketchy for me at times, at least when it comes to "Our Version Of."īelcam G'eau Black - Acqua di Gio Profumo. I like clones because they can usually offer a twist on a well-known formula. Creed Neroli Sauvage: Mugler Cologne, Eau de Rochas Ysl Rive Gauche: Tom Ford Fougere d'Argent Tom Ford for Men Extreme: Hermes Bel Ami Gucci Pour Homme: Parle Moi de Parfum Papyrus Oud Gucch Rush for Men: CdG Wonderwood, YSL Rue 24 I'll add more as I think of them, but off the top of my head all of these fragrances are both close to the originals but also good wearable fragrances in their own right: You can never really recapture the real thing - perhaps there is an exception but I can't think of one - so trying to aim for the closest thing possible via cheapest ingredients is shooting yourself in the foot: twice. In my opinion, branded fragrances are a better way to go than clones or outright copies. I'm no fan of cheap clones, but I'll happily contribute a few fragrances that are adequate/good/great replacements for discontinued, hard to find, or reformulated fragrances. Hope that anyone who has experienced good or bad copies of both mens and womens perfumes will share their experiences here. I'm now on the lookout for a decent clone of vintage Givenchy Gentleman. I can't locate the bottle at the moment, so cannot give more details of the company that produces it. My third example is a copy of Envy, (in this case the womens) which is spot on. They do an excellent copy of What About Adam from Joop! Again, this copy is so accurate that I will not be requiring the original. The other website I can recommend is The Parfume Parlour. The outlet is called Milton-LLoyd Cosmetics / The Kouros copy is in this case called "The Man - SILVER" Many youtube reviews have picked up on these copies and supplied reviews. This has solved the problem for me as it is identical to my nose and just as potent/ "alive" and long lasting as the early Kouros was. I'm a huge fan of vintage Kouros and found a british firm that does an excellent clone of the vintage stuff for €10 for 50 ml. I have found some excellent copies that have saved me from tracking down the real thing at exorbitant prices. With so many classic and newer fragrances being discontinued, (or reformulated beyond recognition) I thought it would be a good idea to share experiences here.
